Pondless Waterfalls

Pondless Waterfalls

Pondless Waterfalls are a low-maintenance, cost-efficient way to enjoy the sight and sound of waterfalls in any space.

These water features include a series of cascading waterfalls that disappear into an underground basin (that's why Pondless Waterfalls are also known as Disappearing Waterfalls). The water then recirculates from the basin back up through the waterfalls.

How a Pondless Waterfall Works

This is where your waterfall starts. Our spillways provide a steady, leak-free stream of water, ensuring your waterfall looks just like one you’d find in nature. Spillways are easy to camouflage with plants and rocks.

The rock and gravel in your Pondless Waterfall is what helps your waterfall disappear. Water seeps down through the rock and gravel into the hidden underground water storage blocks. We arrange the rock and gravel in such a way that it looks natural, just like what you would find in a stream during a hike in the woods.

The pump vault houses your disappearing waterfall’s pump and check-valve assembly, keeping them safe from the elements and preventing clogging. Although hidden from sight underground, the vault is still easy to access for maintenance and checking the water level in your Pondless Waterfall.

The pump is the heart of your Pondless Waterfall’s circulation system. It’s what keeps the water flowing. We use high-quality, energy-efficient pumps that require little maintenance.

While the water in a Pondless Waterfall looks like it’s disappearing into the rock and gravel, it’s actually going into underground water storage blocks. These boxes take the place of a “pond” in your Pondless Waterfall.

We use a sturdy EPDM Pond Liner to keep your water where it belongs: in the water feature. The non-woven geotextile underlayment sits under the liner, protecting it from rocks and tree roots.

Your pump pushes water through sturdy, out-of-sight pipes. These pipes help recycle water through the feature.

5 Reasons to Choose a Pondless Waterfall

1. Safety

Because there’s no pool of water, a Pondless Waterfall is a great option if you are concerned about safety.

2. Cost

Cost can be a big factor when considering the type of water garden you want to build. In most cases, a Pondless Waterfall will cost less than a pond because construction involves less labor and fewer rocks and other materials. Pondless Waterfalls also generally cost less to run and maintain.

3. Space

The small size of the Pondless Waterfall means you can build and enjoy a beautiful waterfall almost anywhere in you yard.

4. Maintenance

Taking care of your Pondless Waterfall is easy. All you need to do is fill the reservoir every few weeks to compensate for water loss caused by evaporation.

5. Flexibility

Not sure if you’re ready to commit to a full pond yet? Just start with a Pondless Waterfall and upgrade when you’re ready.
